Barcelona: Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff, who also played and coached Barcelona, feels he is "2-0 up in the first half of a match" against lung cancer, stressing that latest results on the treatment have been "very positive".
"After several medical treatments I can say the results have been very positive, thanks to the excellent work of the doctors, the affection of the people and my positive mentality," Cruyff said in a statement released by his company Cruyff Management, reports Efe.
"Right now, I have the feeling that I am 2-0 up in the first half of a match that has not finished yet. But I am sure I will end up winning."
Cruyff, 68, was diagnosed with lung cancer on October 22, 2015, after a visit to the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona. The Dutch legend, who had a double heart bypass surgery in 1991, was the first coach to lead Barcelona to win the European Cup title in 1992.
As a player, Cruyff moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Barcelona in 1960s. He then coached Barcelona to win four consecutive La Liga titles from 1991 to 1994. (IANS)
