Paris: A court in Lille, north France upheld the decision to evacuate thousands of migrants camping in Calais, rejecting NGOs request to halt the eviction's order, Pas-de Calais prefecture authorities has said.
Earlier this month, authorities said the southern part of the Calais "jungle", where "abuses" had been committed by migrants and violent clashes escalated, would be evacuated, Xinhua cited Calais town hall as saying on Thursday.
They have proposed for the immigrants to move to a state-run container shelter nearby or other refugees centres across France.
The deadline expired on Tuesday evening. The court previously delayed making a decision on whether migrants can be evicted from the "Jungle" refugee camp in Calais. (IANS)
