Jakarta: Several explosions were heard in the Indonesian capital, with gunfire breaking out afterwards, BBC reported.
The blasts took place outside a police kiosk that’s also close to Sarinah mall, in the national capital.
Among the first victims was a police official. It was unclear if he died due to the explosion or the gun-battle that ensued.
Xinhua news agency reported scores of people were injured in the blast.
According to Channel News Asia, grenades were thrown at the police kiosk and then began firing indiscriminately. The news channel also reports that the police had prior information about an attack.
