While, Mr Kejriwal is trying to cut down the air pollution of Delhi by applying odd-even rule, China is tackling it in an innovative style. Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde came up with an innovative plan of turning the smog in the air of China into diamonds which will be used in China.
Yes, Diamonds.
Before coming to Beijing, the Smog Free Project had a pilot run in Rotterdam. The whole project is divided into two parts. Firstly, the smog is sucked up by a tall tower of 7m. The polluted air is cleaned up at a nano-level. The smog of Beijing contains 32% carbon. According to Roosegaarde, if it is kept under 30 minutes of pressure it can be made into diamonds. Secondly, the money that will be raised by selling diamond jewelries will help them to develop more Smog Free Towers.
