Singapore's largest freshwater marshland now open

Singapore: Singapore's largest freshwater marshland was officially opened on Monday to visitors, with guided tours starting at the end of the month.

The Kranji Marshes is home to more than 170 species of birds, 54 species of butterflies and 33 species of dragonflies, Channel News Asia reported.

Kranji Marshes is separated into two areas - a public area and a restricted core area which is only accessible through tours.

Within the public area, visitors can climb a 10.65-metre tall Raptor tower to get a panoramic view of the surrounding marshes.

There are also blinds, which are open-air structures, from where visitors can observe the wildlife.

There will be two guided tours each month, starting from February 27 which will allow public access to the core conservation areas which are not normally accessible to visitors. (IANS)
