Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is flying to Bengaluru today to attend an IPL match on the invitation of BCCI.
He is being accompanied by two of his cabinet members including foreign minister Abdulla Shahid and will be watching today's match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings.
The Foreign Minister told our Colombo correspondent that President Solih's presence at the event is indicative of the rejuvenation of the bilateral ties between two nations, including in the area of sports co-operation.
He said, his government is looking forward to building a new cricket stadium in Maldives with Indian assistance that will create a young breed of Maldivian cricketers who can compete at international level. (AIR NEWS)
