NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on Thursday said mobility is the next frontier and will be a key driver of jobs in India. Briefing media on MOVE - Global Mobility Summit in New Delhi, Mr Kant said mobility comprises movement and seamless interconnectivity across various modes of transport.
He stressed on the need to reduce oil import, vehicular pollution and enhance public transport and last mile connectivity.
Mr Kant said the mobility conference is a huge opportunity to leapfrog as there is an inevitable global disruption through electric mobility.
He said there is high potential in India to maintain momentum of growth in auto industry.
AIR correspondent reports, Mr Kant said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the MOVE - Global Mobility Summit in New Delhi on Friday.
He said, several global and Indian CEOs will attend the summit. He said, the Summit is the first of its kind, with over 2200 participants expected from across the world including leaders from the government, industry, research organizations, academia, think tanks and civil society. He also said, the whole event is broken up into five broad themes.
These are Maximising Asset Utilisation, Comprehensive Electrification and Alternative Fuels, Reinventing Public Transport, Goods Transport and Logistics, and Data Analytics And Mobility. (AIR)
