As we celebrate the birth anniversary of the 'Father of the Nation', Mahatma Gandhi, tomorrow, we have few of his ideologies to talk about. The term Mahatma, meaning superior soul was given by legendary poet-writer Rabindranath Tagore; showcasing Gandhi's school of thoughts for a better India. But how far do we really imply what Bapu taught us? Do we really believe in the practices he told us to keep doing? Or we have taken another path to righteousness and Karma? Let's see how today's India is abandoning the Gandhian ideologies:
Mahatma Gandhi was a firm believer of Ahinsa (non -violence) but today stories of riots can be heard every other day
He encouraged us about the 'Swadeshi Movement' where we should utilize products manufactured within our domestic boundaries
Now we have the FDI !
His principles of mouna (silence) and shanti (peace) cannot be seen anywhere today
The kind of slangs we hear every time we step out is a clear symbol.
Satya (Truth) never prevails in today's India, just see the amount of corruption and scams being exposed each day!
Nobody is going vegan these days - price is on a steady rise
Even people from pure vegetarian background are having non-veg platters in restaurants these days
Bapu's thought on equality and justice are long gone cases
Today we have quotas in every university, a huge pile of pending case files in every court of the country and people protesting on streets for justice.
The ideology of Brahmacharya !! ?
The fact is that every other person is in a relationship and may be even having an extra-marital affair!!
Mahatma Gandhi encouraged education at an early stage - but we find hundreds of kids toiling hard to earn bread for their families
And the irony is that the only principles which we truly believe in are our Satyagraha (political resistance) and Jail Bharo Andolan (fill the jails)
Numerous party leaders and public representatives opting for mass dharnas and going jail for nothing else but power and money.
We hope India becomes the ideal place Bapu dreamt of.
