Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has called for a floor test in the state assembly tomorrow at 5 PM. The Governor has post letter to the Secretary of the Maharashtra legislative assembly, calling for a special session tomorrow.
The flor test is gong to be conducted due to the latest turn of events in the state minister Eknath Shinde-led rebellion against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. BJP leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had met the Governor asking for floor test.
Team Thackeray approached the Supreme Court claiming the Governor's request is illegal as 16 rebel MLAs are yet to respond on possible disqualification. The Supreme Court will hear the matter at 5 pm tomorrow.
Eknath Shinde has claimed the support of nearly 40 (out of 55) Sena MLAs, thus strinking the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Shiv Sena, Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Congress. He said he and the rebel MLAs camping with him in Guwahati in BJP-ruled Assam will be back in Mumbai tomorrow.
