14 People killed due to thunderstorm and lightening in Bihar

In Bihar, 14 people including three children were killed and nine others injured due to thunderstorm and lightening in several parts of the state.

Maximum six deaths have been reported from Nalanda followed by five in Patna and three from East Champaran. The injured have been admitted to local hospitals. Rail and road services have been disrupted in affected areas due to falling of trees and electric wire on track and roads.

Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced an ex-gratia of four lakh rupees each to next of the kin of the deceased.

Crops, including Mango, Litchi, Maize and Banana, have been destroyed due to the storm. The MeT department has forecast more thunderstorm in the next 24 hours in several parts of the state. (AIR NEWS)
