17 dead in fire at Delhi’s Karol Bagh hotel Arpit Palace

In Delhi, seventeen people including a child lost their lives in a fire that broke out at a hotel located on Gurudwara Road in Karol Bagh area early this morning. 24 fire tenders were pressed into service and 25 persons have been rescued. The injured were rushed to three hospitals including the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Thirteen bodies are at the RML Hospital. According to eyewitnesses, most deaths were caused due to suffocation. Wooden panelling in the corridors of the hotel contributed to the quick spread of the fire. Cooling process is underway and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives due to a fire at Karol Bagh in Delhi. In a tweet, Mr Modi conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He expressed hope that the injured will recover soon. (AIR NEWS)
