In Somalia, 26 people have been killed by Al-Shabaab militants in an attack on a hotel in southern part of the country today.
The victims include prominent Somali politicians and several foreigners. More than 50 people were also wounded.
Witnesses said among those killed was Hodan Nalayeh, a prominent Somali-Canadian journalist. Her husband Farid was also killed in the attack.
BBC reports that regional politicians and clan elders were inside the hotel discussing a forthcoming regional election when the attack began.
A presidential candidate for the election was also killed in the siege.
