In Jammu and Kashmir, Advisor to Governor, Farooq Khan has called for making unified efforts to combat the menace of malnutrition in order to make the country healthy and prosperous.
Addressing an inaugural event of POSHAN Maah-2019 as part of Jan Andolan under POSHAN Abhiyaan in Jammu, Farooq Khan said that it is very unfortunate that even after 70 years of independence, children are malnourished.
AIR correspondent reports that underlining the objective of the initiative, the Advisor said that the POSHAN Maah is aiming to attain malnutrition free India and emphasized on the need to focus on the paradigm shift in the mindset of the people to move from Food-Security to Nutrition Security.
He maintained that all health-related facilities should be provided at the school level to combat malnutrition at its very beginning. Spoking to Project Director ICDS Rimpy Ohri about Poshan Abhiyaan Month.
She said that under the programme, intensified awareness is being generated regarding five critical aspects including the first one thousand days of a new born child, anaemia, diarrhoea, handwash & sanitation and dietary components.
She added that under the programme, the department is planning to distribute growth monitoring devices, smart phones and power banks to each Anganwadi centre of the district, so that children are monitored, their growth rate checked and malnutrition addressed. (AIR NEWS)
