Bihar Government has deployed additional doctors at Muzaffarpur in view of the alarming situation of Encephalitis in the district and it's adjoining areas. Most of them are paediatricians. They have been deputed at Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital and Kejriwal Hospital in Muzaffarpur.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the situation and instructed health officials to provide all medical facilities to ailing children.64 children have so far died due to Encephalitis. Maximum casualties have been reported from Muzaffarpur. 82 children are undergoing treatment in hospitals. Condition of eight children is critical.
Casualties have also been reported from Samastipur and Vaishali districts. A multi-specialist high-level team is in Muzaffarpur to assist local machinery in the containment and management of rising cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). The expert team has sent a preliminary report to the Health Ministry. It has advised increasing health facilities in the hospital. (AIR NEWS)
