BJP takes a dig at Congress following its allegations against govt after income tax action

BJP took a dig at Congress following its allegations against the government after income tax action on the opposition party. Earlier, Congress hit out at the government claiming that recently the Centre forced the banks to transfer around 65 crore rupees from its deposits to the government.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, the tax recovery procedure undertaken by the Income Tax Department is legally binding and the department has all the legal provisions to recover the pending tax from the party. He also alleged that Congress has been evading its tax liability which depicts irresponsibility on its part. He said, Congress thinks it is above the law and constitution.

Earlier, briefing the media, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal alleged that the government is trying to suppress the opposition party ahead of Lok Sabha polls. (AIR NEWS)
