The Enforcement Directorate, ED, says the British Home Secretary has recently referred India's request for extradition of PNB scam accused Nirav Modi to a court for initiating legal proceedings against him.
The ED, in a statement, said the request was sent to the UK in July 2018.
Earlier today, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, all necessary steps are being taken for Nirav Modi's extradition. He too had said the extradition request is under the UK Government's consideration.
Meanwhile, CBI Spokesperson Nitin Wakankar said, the agency is willing to extend all help to the United Kingdom through External Affairs Ministry in ensuring extradition of Modi.
The CBI had registered an FIR against him on the basis of a complaint against him and his uncle Mehul Choksi from the bank. (AIR)
