Cricket World Cup 2019: India beat Pakistan by 89 runs


India maintained its unbeaten record against Pakistan at the Cricket World Cups by securing a 89-run win over the neighbours at Old Trafford stadium in Manchester.   Put into bat by Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, India set a victory target of massive 337 Runs for Pakistan at Old Trafford in Manchester. Rohit Sharma hit a magnificent 140 off 113 balls. It was his second century of the tournament and 24th ODI hundred overall.Captain Virat Kohli scored 77 while KL Rahul made 57. India scored 336 for 5 in stipulated 50 overs. For Pakistan, Mohammad Aamir took 3 wickets.    Chasing a high target of 337, Pakistan after losing an early wicket put up a strong partnership with Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam. However the magnificent spell of bowling from Kuldeep Yadav helped India bounce back. Kuldeep tool two quick wickets before Indian bowlers began to send one after another Pakistani batsman to pavillion.

However, after a spell of rain interrupted the Pakistan innings in the 35th over, the target was adjusted to 302 runs, while the length of the innings was revised down to 40 overs.But the neighbours could only manage 212 at the loss of six wickets.

Earlier Pakistan won the toss and elected to field. Rohit Sharma was named Man of the Match for his second century this World Cup. ()
