Cyclonic storm "Biparjoy" likely to intensify further into an "extremely severe cyclonic" storm

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said the cyclonic storm "Biparjoy" is likely to intensify further into an "extremely severe cyclonic" storm during next 12 hours. The Weather agency said, it is likely to move north-northeastwards during next 24 hours and then gradually north-northwestwards during subsequent 3 days.

Currently, the cyclone Biparjoy is centered about 620 km west-southwest of Mumbai, 580 km south-southwest of Porbandar and 890 km south of Karachi. It said the sea condition is likely to be rough on 10th June and likely to become rough to very rough during 11th to 15th June.

In view of the situation, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been stationed at the beach near Jarod village in Vadodara, Gujarat. Until June 14, the beach will not be open to tourists. Additionally, the fishermen have been instructed not to venture into the water. The IMD has warned that the storm could cause heavy rain and strong winds in coastal areas of Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra. Meanwhile, fishermen have been cautioned not to venture out into the seas off the coast of Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep.imd (AIR NEWS)
