In the Czech Republic, hundreds of thousands of protesters have taken to the streets of the capital city of Prague demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Andrej Babis.
The protest is being said to be the country’s biggest display of dissent since the 1989 velvet revolution that ended communism in former Czechoslovakia. Prime Minister Babis is facing a criminal investigation over alleged abuse of two million Euros in EU subsidies.
He is also the subject of an EU conflict-of-interest investigation over his Agrofert conglomerate, which he transferred to two trust funds shortly before he came to power in 2017. Mr Babis has dismissed all of the allegations as baseless and politically motivated. (AIR NEWS)
