Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Vikram Jardosh will today deliver her inaugural address on the second day of the ongoing Second Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group meeting under India's G20 Presidency at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The three-day meeting which has been organized at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre began yesterday. On the first day, the G20 member countries made presentations on their best practices about Water Resource Management. In her address, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Jal Shakti Debashree Mukherjee highlighted the fact that management of water resources in a holistic manner is pre-requisite for the development of a nation and consequently water secured world. She emphasized the need for collaboration and knowledge sharing in the field of water resources.
She also pointed out that G20 India Presidency appreciates the valuable work, successful programmes, and innovations in the field of water resources by G20 members. Ms. Mukherjee said India is committed to strengthening this cooperation in water resources development and management through sharing of the technical experiences and best practices.
Around 130 delegates including from G20 member countries and invitee countries are participating in the three-day event. The meeting focuses on thematic areas like arresting land degradation, accelerating ecosystem restoration and enriching biodiversity, Encouraging resource efficiency and Circular economy, and Promoting a sustainable and climate-resilient Blue economy.
