The air quality in the National Capital Region continues to be in a severe category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index, AQI was recorded 463 this evening.
The Air Quality Index of the adjoining areas of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Noida, Gurugram and others have also shown a deteriorating air quality as most of them fall under the severe category. Air quality in the city was severe yesterday as well.
With the onset of winter, a dip in the minimum temperature is making the air cold and heavy leading to accumulation of pollutants close to the ground. The Odd-Even rule has been enforced in Delhi to combat air pollution.
The situation is likely to improve with an increase in wind speed due to a fresh western disturbance and a dip in farm fires. (AIR)
