External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will hold talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart Dr. A K Abdul Menon today. He arrived in Dhaka last night on a three day visit to Bangladesh.
Today he will begin his engagement by paying respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the Dhanmondi area of Dhaka which will be followed by a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh. In the afternoon he will call on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.
This is the first visit of the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Bangladesh after the new government took oath in May this year. The visit marks the neighborhood first policy of the Modi government.
Bangladesh has been a reliable friend of India. The visit of the External Affairs Minister is the reaffirmation of the strong ties between the two neighbours.
During the visit the two sides will discuss issues of mutual importance especially those related to connectivity, security and people to people contact related aspects of India Bangladesh Relationship. (AIR NEWS)
