Electioneering is in full swing for the 60 seat Tripura Legislative Assembly polls. Leaders from various political parties are addressing election rallies and are also undertaking door-to-door campaigning for their party candidates.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha undertook door-to-door campaign at Badharghat in support of BJP candidate Minarani Sarkar. Later, the Chief Minister addressed a public rally at Hrishyamukh in South Tripura district for his party candidate. Addressing the public meeting, Dr. Saha highlighted various developmental activities that were undertaken by the state and central governments. Leader of the Opposition and former CM Manik Sarkar also campaigned in Dhanpur assembly constituency.
Dhanpur has been a bastion of Manik Sarkar as he had won from this seat five consecutive times. This time, however, Mr. Sarkar is not contesting the assembly election and instead campaigned for his party candidate Koushik Chanda, who has been fielded from this seat by the CPI-M. Speaking at the rally Manik Sarkar criticized the BJP led government in Tripura. Former CM and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Deb also addressed an election rally in support of party candidate Pratima Bhoumik who is contesting from Dhanpur assembly seat. (AIR NEWS)
