The flood situation in Assam continues to be grim as new areas have been inundated. Flood water has, however, receded in most areas of Bongaigaon district.
Nearly nine lakh people are affected in the recent wave of floods in 21 districts. Several rivers are in spate due to incessant rains. Six people have, so far, lost their lives.
NDRF and SDRF teams have been pressed into service in the affected areas for search and rescue operation.
68 numbers of Relief Camps are operational in with over 7 thousand inmates. Food items and drinking water are being distributed among flood-hit people.

Handloom and Textile Minister Ranjit Dutta will visit one of worst affected Lakhimpur district today. Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta has visited flood-hit Morigaon district on Friday and took stock of the situation.
