The Centre on Friday said the availability of fertilisers has remained comfortable across all the States of the country for many years. In a written replyto a quetion in Lok Sabha, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said there is no requirement for any contingency plan presently. He said State governments are empowered to take action against persons involved in black-marketing and hoarding as per provisions of the Essential Commodities Act.
In reply to another question, Dr Mandaviya said to reduce dependence on chemicals, the Government is promoting organic farming using organic fertilisers through Paramparagat Krishi Vikas (PKVY). He said farmers of various States of the country are provided financial assistance of fifty thousand rupees per hectare under PKVY for three years out of which 31 thousand rupees per hectare for three is provided directly to farmers through DBT for on-farm and off-farm organic inputs.
