Gujarat Police arrests activist Teesta Setalvad

Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested activist Teesta Setalvad and former IPS officer RB Sreekumar in connection with an FIR filed in Ahmedabad against them for alleged criminal conspiracy, forgery and placing false evidence in court to frame innocent people in the 2002 Gujarat riots case.

Setalvad and Sreekumar's arrest came a day after Supreme Court dismissed a petition challenging the SIT clean chit to then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 riots case. The FIR naming Setalvad, Sreekumar and the others was registered by the Ahmedabad crime branch. Sreekumar has been arrested by the Ahmedabad crime branch for furnishing false information about the Gujarat riots. (AIRNEWS)
