Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has condemned the reported incidence of violence against doctors in Kolkata. In a statement, the Minister said, it is necessary and important for the doctors to get a safe work environment in all states.
The Minister said that he will take up this matter with the Chief Ministers so that such incidents can be avoided in the future. He said, doctors, are an integral pillar of society and often work under stressful and difficult conditions.
Dr Vardhan also urged the doctors to observe restraint so that essential services to the people are not disrupted. He also urged the patients and their caregivers to observe restraint. Junior doctors in West Bengal are on a strike since Tuesday after two of their colleagues were attacked and seriously injured at the NRS medical college and hospital in Kolkata. (AIR NEWS)
