Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of the national capital today morning, bringing down the minimum temperature to 7.2 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Palam recorded 23 mm and Safdarjung 30.8 mm of rainfall till 5:30 AM today. The intense downpour started yesterday, which led to road blockages and widespread waterlogging in the city.
Meanwhile, light rain is likely to continue today, with the temperature expected to be between 8 and 19 degrees Celsius.
IMD said, the reason behind the rain was a western disturbance. It said that over the next five days, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are highly likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The rainfall activity will decrease thereafter.
It also forecast that strong and chilly surface winds, at a speed of 30-40 kmph, are very likely over Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi today. (AIR NEWS)
