Union Minister of Information Broadcasting and Sports and Youth Affairs, Anurag Thakur has made it clear that abusive language in the name of creativity will not be tolerated on OTT. He expressed concern about increasing obscenity and abusive language on the OTT platform and said, the government is serious about the complaints of increasing abusive and obscene content on these platforms. Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, the Minister said, if there is a need to make any changes in the rules in this regard, the Ministry is willing to consider that.
Mr.Thakur said, these platforms were given freedom for creativity and not obscenity. If someone crosses the limit, then abusing or rudeness in the name of creativity cannot be accepted at all. Whatever necessary action needs to be taken on this, the government will not back down from it.
Mr. Anurag Thakur said, complaints have started increasing in the last few days and the government is taking it very seriously. The Minister explained that there is a mechanism for complaint resolution. The producer has to resolve the received complaints at the first level and 90 to 92 per cent of the complaints are resolved by them by making necessary changes. The next level of complaint resolution is at the level of their association, where most of the complaints are resolved. At the last level it comes to the government, where the action is taken by the departmental committee, according to the rules in place.
The minister also informed that 1,000 Khelo India centers will be started across the country by August 15 of this year, out of which 945 centers have been given approval. While speaking about the infrastructure development Mr.Thakur, informed that Rs 10 lakh crores have been allocated for capital investment in this year's budget. He said, there is an increase by nine times in railway budget allocation, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has a budget allocation of Rs 79 thousand crores. Rs 20 lakh crore have been provided for capacity building of farmers and fisheries. A fund of Rs 3 thousand 797 crores has been given to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Earlier, on his arrival Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Sh Anurag Thakur received a welcome from officials of the Media Units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Minister was also received by volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra on his arrival at the airport. (AIR NEWS)
