Kerala initiates several preventive measures to control Nipah virus

In the backdrop of confirmed Nipah virus case in Ernakulam district of Kerala, the Health Department has initiated several preventive measures to control it. Doctors, nurses, health workers have been given special training by a team of experts to deal with the virus attack. AIR correspondent reports that the Health Department has also formulated special task programmes for next twenty-one days to deal with the outbreak.

“The Health Department has made a list of 311 people who made contact with the affected person and asked them to remain in their home. Meanwhile, the District Collector has informed that there is no need to get panic and situation is under control. He also informed that a seven-member Central team led by Dr Ruchi Jain has reached Kochi to oversee the activities in the State. The latest medical bulletin released by the hospital authorities where Nipah affected patient is under treatment, said that there is improvement in the health condition of 23-year-old student. “NC Jayachandran, AIR News, Kochi."

Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said that he spoke to Kerala Health Minister and assured of all possible support from the Centre. The Minister said, he reviewed the public health measures for Nipah virus (AIR NEWS)
