Maha govt hikes compensation for kin of Jawans killed in line of duty

Maharashtra government has decided to increase the compensation from 25 lakh to one crore rupees for families of security personnel hailing from the state who lay down their lives in the line of duty.

The state cabinet took the decision in its meeting yesterday. A cabinet note stated that personnel wounded in a conflict will get monetary compensations ranging from 20 lakh to 60 lakh rupees each, depending on the severity of their injury.

The Cabinet also decided to raise the allowances for special teachers attached with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan by 1500 rupees, taking it to 21,500 rupees. The decision will benefit over 1900 teachers. (AIR NEWS)
