Mahakal temple in Ujjain to Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga in Khandwa witnesses crowd of devotees

In Madhya Pradesh, from Mahakal temple in Ujjain to Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga in Khandwa, a crowd of devotees is thronging on the occasion of Maha Shivratri today, February 18. For the convenience of the devotees in both the Jyotirlingas, the doors of the temple were opened early morning.

AIR correspondent reports, in the Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain Maha Shivratri festival, has been celebrated in full swing for the last nine days but today Baba Mahakal woke up two hours earlier to bless his devotees. The doors of the temple were opened at 2:30 am and will remain open continuously for 44 hours.

On the other hand, 21 lakh earthen lamps will be lit on the banks of the Kshipra River under the Shiv Jyoti Arpanam programme in Ujjain today. Around 22 thousand volunteers including officers, public representatives and common people is participating in this mega zero waste event. Meanwhile, the Ujjain police have made elaborate security arrangements. Around two thousand policemen and officers have been put on duty. More than a dozen parking lots have been made outside the city. (AIR NEWS)
