The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy, Tamilnadu has started a project for giving special coaching to rural students for JEE and NEET exams, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Students from rural students are given coaching by first-year students of the NIT on weekends under the project.
Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas, Director, NIT further pointed out that the NIT has also adopted several villages as part of the Unath Bharat Abhiyan of the Central government.
She was presiding over the inauguration of the Thirumathikart mobile app for SHG (Self Help Group) products, developed by NIT in Trichy today.
The application was developed in coordination with the Union Department of Science and Technology. The main objective of the app is to empower women and help them access market opportunities in a seamless manner. The platform will also enable Self Help Groups to showcase their products to a wider audience. (AIR NEWS)
