Odisha: 11-member central team assessing damage caused by cyclone Fani to completes its visit today

In Odisha, the 11-member Central team which conducted on-the-spot assessment of the situation and the damage caused to both life and infrastructure by cyclone Fani completed its visit today.

The inter-ministerial team led by Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Vivek Bharadwaj, during their three-day visit assessed the damage and interacted with cyclone-affected people in Puri, Cuttack, and Khurda districts.

After winding up its visit, the team held a meeting with State Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the secretariat in Bhubaneswar. Speaking to media, Mr Padhi said in five cyclone-affected districts, damage caused to properties is worth nearly 12 thousand crore rupees.

The Central team chief Vivek Bharadwaj said the Centre will provide all possible help to the Odisha government. He also appreciated the efforts of both the Centre and state government in carrying out relief and reconstruction work in the affected areas. The team will return to Delhi this afternoon and submit its report to the Centre. (AIR NEWS)
