People more aware of health post-Covid era; huge opportunity in healthcare sector for investment

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya today, February 11, said that People are more aware of their health post-COVID era and there is a huge opportunity in the healthcare sector for investment.

Speaking at a Plenary Session on healthcare at Global Investors Summit in Lucknow, Mr. Mandviya said that Government is in talks with the world bank to open private hospitals and the world bank is ready to give loans for this purpose. He called upon the private sector to associate with the Aayushman Bharat scheme.

Mentioning the approach of the Government toward healthcare Mr Mandviya said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi connected health with development and working with a holistic approach in this sector. That is why the seats in the medical education sector have been increased and prime health centres are being developed as health and wellness centre, he added.

The Minister said, the country needs long-term policies for encouraging investment be it in healthcare or any other sector. He added that the Central Government is pro-poor and pro-farmers but also at the same time industry-friendly and now the ecosystem is ready for investment.

The session termed "Healthcare through investors lens post covid scenario" had many members of the healthcare industry as guests including MD of Medanta Naresh Trehan and MD of Lal pathology.

Speaking on the occasion Health Minister of State Brijesh Pathak said that the Uttar Pradesh government has received investments worth 54 thousand crores in medical and 17 thousand crores in the health education sector in this global investors summit. UP spends 7.1 per cent of its budget on healthcare and in the last two years, the number of medical colleges in the State has doubled. (AIR NEWS)
