Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the women have power to transform society and country. There is no field where women have not contributed positively.
He was addressing a gathering at Pandit Deendayal Hastkala Sankul at Bada Lalpur area at Varanasi this morning on International Women's Day.
He said women are doing a wonderful job in the field of Defence, agriculture, health, education and others and are playing an important role in the prosperity of their families, society and the nation.
Prime Minister mentioned various schemes of Union Government like Beti Bachao Beti padhao, Ayushman Bharat , Matratwa Suraksha Yozna, Matratva Awaksh, Ujjawala Yozna and others that are uplifting the quality of life of women.
He said more than six crore women and families are associated with more than 50 lakh SHG groups in country and making their life self reliant. He said besides SHGs, women are also exploring other fields.
Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister laid foundation stone of a corridor and beautification at Baba Vishwanath Temple.
He said that the Baba Vishwanath temple at Varanasi is a place of faith and belief of crores of people. This temple corridor will be a role model for all temples and their safety and security.
He said that all rules, standards and ethical values mentioned in our Shastras (शास्त्र)have been kept in mind while preparing model of this corridor. He said nobody earlier during 70 years dared to remove encroachment around this world fame Temple.
He said it is after more than 240 years this temple corridor will take expansion. It will now be known as 'Kashi Vishwanath Dham.'

The corridor including approach roads and beautification spread over around 39 thousand square metre at Baba Vishwanath temple and nearby areas ,the people will get a big relief from frequent traffic jam and pollution here. One of the 12 Jyotirlings across the country, this world fame Baba Vishwanath Temple attracts crores of devotees not only in India but also from our abroad.
The beautification and strengthening of nearby area will boost tourist Industry at Kashi. Prime Minister said this corridor will be a role model of facilities,security and safety for other temples.
Prime Minister on the occasion of World Women's Day distributed electric Chocks, Solar Charkha and honey Boxes to the beneficiaries of National Rural livelihood Mission . Prime Minister was also handed over a donation check by Self Help Group -SHGs for contribution in 'Bharat ke Veer ' fund. (AIR)
