President Droupadi Murmu Visits Indira Point, Southernmost Tip of India

President Droupadi Murmu today visited Indira Point, the southernmost tip of India. She first reached Campbell Bay today from Port Blair, where she was welcomed at the INS Baaz by Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman Nicobar Command, Nicobar District Deputy Commissioner Jyoti Kumari, members of the Great Nicobar Tribal Council and other dignitaries. From Campbell Bay the President went straight to Indira Point, where she was informed by the Army about its strategic importance. While returning from Indira Point, the President met with the chief of the tribal council, Shri. Barnabas, and other members of the council. She also inspected a handicraft stall set up by a tribal self-help group near the venue of the program. On arrival at Campbell Bay, she was welcomed with traditional tribal dance at the INS Baaz. Lieutenant Governor of the Islands, Admiral DK Joshi also accompanied the President during her visit. The President returned to Port Blair this afternoon. After reaching Port Blair, she watched the light and sound show at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island. (AIR NEWS)
