President Paul Biya's party has retained an absolute majority in Cameroon's parliament. This was announced by the constitutional council in Yaounde today after the controversial February 9 vote.
Council President Clement Atanaga said Biya's Cameroon People's Democratic Movement won 139 out of 167 declared seats on a moderate turnout of almost 46 percent.
Elections were canceled in 13 other seats, in the country's troubled anglophone regions, and are to be held at a later date. (AIR NEWS)
