Digital India Programme of the Government has earned laurels for the Country. The digital infrastructure developed by the country has been highly praised by league of developed nations, which helped easy and quick transfer of cash benefits to those who needed it the most in the emerging situation of COVID-19 pandemic.
In another very encouraging endorsement of the success of Digital India programme, Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland has expressed her appreciation for the initiative. She called the initiative as a new hope for other developing and aspiring countries of the Commonwealth.
Ms. Scotland, in an interaction with a private news channel, said that the way India has tried to address the aspirations of the people with innovation and opportunities by offering affordable digital services is commendable.
She added that India is developing these things at a large scale and at a cost which makes digital inclusion possible to a large extent. Ms. Scotland appreciated the efforts of Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad for the success of Digital India programme and termed his contributions as electrifying for the other member countries of the Commonwealth.
