International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking: Know More. The day is observed every year on 26th June since 1987 to raise awareness about the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society.
This year the theme is Health for Justice, Justice for Health, which highlights that justice and health are two sides of the same coin when it comes to addressing drug problems. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, in a tweet, has appealed to the people to create awareness on the dangers of substance abuse and collectively strive to end the menace.
Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment flagged off the 17th Run against Drug Abuse at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the national capital with an objective to raise awareness against drug abuse. Mr Gehlot said, the government started a survey programme across the country from 2018 to know the number of people who are a drug addict. (AIR NEWS)
