WB Governor justifies his stand to rescue Union Minister Babul Supriyo

The West Bengal Governor Mr. Jagdip Dhankar has justified his stand for visiting Jadavpur University last evening to rescue Union Minister Babul Supriyo from student’s gherao.

In a statement, Mr. Dhankar said that as Chancellor of the University he is the guardian of all students and performed his duties.

The Governor’s visit to the University to rescue a BJP leader has irked political controversy in the state. The Trinamul Congress Secretary-General Mr.

Partha Chatterjee criticized his visit without informing the State Government. But Mr. Dhankar said that he visited the spot informing State Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee and top brass of the administration.

The Governor expressed serious concern over the detention of Union Minister by the student in University premises and failure of the administration to take prompt actions to resolve the impasse. (AIR NEWS)
